Nikki Haley: South Carolina's Very New Governor

S.C. Governor's Seat Is Filled With Promise
With a mother living in South Carolina I often have a chance to catch up on the news in that interesting state. The “doings” there have given me fare for more than one hub.
The sad situation with Mark Sanford made national headlines a while back and there are many who are glad that South Carolina can put that chapter behind them.
Recent big news is that Nikki Haley has replaced the failed Sanford as governor and she has made a superb beginning. A replacement was long overdue in South Carolina and this one has the markers of a quality replacement.
Below is the best video of her inaugural speech that I could find. If a better one becomes available I will try to post it here.
The speech is worth listening to no matter what state you live in. She repeated an interesting quote that, the more I think about it, the more I think it might be right on target.
It was something about how California was the state that had changed the most in the last 50/100 years, but that South Carolina is the state that changed the most for the good.
Frozen South Carolina Inaugural Speech
Inaugural Speech
In her speech Governor Nikki Haley affirms faith, family, and a sincere appreciation for America, and it probably put her in the crosshairs of many who oppose the values that made our country great.
Thankfully, she has courage and that prospect did not stop her from making the speech. A transcript of her gracious but strong inaugural address can be found by going here.
She did not neglect to acknowledge the problems recorded in the state’s history. Yet, she embraced the positives with a view to the future.
Instead of looking at the past with a hopeless perspective, by example and promise she has taken up an ambitious banner that speaks responsibility, work, growth, and gratitude--a combination that just might allow her precedent setting victory to continue setting criterion for both the state and the nation.
As well, you can go here to check out another site with a section marked "Truth In Facts". It told me a lot about her personal standards and her manner of taking care of important matters.
I’m not personally impressed with tweets found on this site that tell me about her dog, etc., but I do understand that a large portion of today’s population thinks a great deal about such things. Could make for a few explanations...but I should not wander off topic.
I was happy to find that her husband is a National Guard officer and that she honored her parents in her address. It’s great that she is an Indian-American woman, wife, mother, and now a state governor, but most importantly, the fact that her trustworthiness bought her the day is what stands out.
The tests to come, however, will not be easy ones for someone with her bio. Watching her inaugural address was a good reminder to me that we need to pray for all of our country’s leaders, and especially those who have displayed strong character and good ethics through principled behavior.
The hounds are already at Nikki Haley’s door. May this new chapter in South Carolina’s story report that she was found faithful at the end of the day.
The entire inaugural program was actually worth watching and I was glad to catch most of it. Doing so has inspired me to check out a few other state’s new governors and their inaugurals for comparison’s sake. If I find something worth writing another hub about, you’ll be the first to know!

I liked it when she asked Obama for the state's money back.
It's unfortunate that many Hindus and Sikhs feel they have to reject their heritage in order to be accepted.
She seems to be a breath of fresh air. This is good news for all of you that live in SC.
