Flag Day--It's June 14!
71Display Our Flag's Colors!
In the hub Flag Day and the Star Spangled Banner you can read some of the history behind our national anthem and the entire text of the song. Too often we only hear the first verse and then the words, "Play ball!" but it's a wise thing to refresh our memories on the text and help others remember it.
This little hub is themed to remind us of the Flag Day holiday, the greatness of our very land, and the blessings we have for being in it on this patriotic holiday.
It's a time to stop and take stock of all that we've lost to gain what we have and show our gratitude.
Honor The Freedom That Our Flag Represents!
Say Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue Today!
Take the time to enjoy Flag Day, but be sure to consider why we have it to enjoy!
Beginning with these scenic photos, I hope that you are inspired to support our country's history and the potential for our future in this nation. Let shore to shore landscapes encourage your national patriotism this June 14!
• The skies in these photos are intended to remind us of the vast opportunities that America offers her people.
• The waters are included to help us think through the depth of sacrifice that has been given for our freedoms.
• The bridges are posted here to give us a vision of how where we come from can strengthen our resolve to renew and hold on to the values that made our USA strong.
Be sure to take a look at the videos located below that others have put together. Finding this poem from Johnny Cash for today's hub, as well as the other videos, gave me something uniquely American for everyone to think about!
On this Flag Day take a small journey from the blue skies of the USA'a sunny Florida...
throughout our beautiful states...
From East
To West
Then Onward, North To Alaska...
and consider how we, as citizens of the United States of America, have so much to be thankful for because we own the red, white, and blue stars and stripes. Don't miss your chance on Flag Day to display your gratitude!
Let Flag Day Remind Us Of Our Past And Our Future
While there are issues we need to address in our country, no nation has ever been perfect. On that same note, no nation will ever be perfect, but because of our freedoms, we have had unique opportunities to work on solving our problems.
While we must continue the fight to preserve those freedoms--and I should add to regain some that have been lost--we can be thankful for the fact that we are still free to do just that and we have opportunity to do so in many ways.
We are unique in the way we were established, and unique in what we've been able to accomplish since our founding. Flag Day is an opportunity to reflect on all that we have been through and to revisit all that we have to be grateful for.
Doing so may even help us look at all that we face today with new eyes, with fresh insight into why the many issues are of such great concern today. Starting on this Memorial Day may we focus on reuniting as a nation.
We can prepare to spend Flag Day standing for the principles and ethics that brought our people together in its early days, standing against all that would destroy its purpose. Talk about celebrating Flag Day with your family and friends, then do it!

Hi very beautiful pictures. Loved them. I didnt know it is flag day on 14th June. Is it international Flag day or just in your country?
This is a beautiful hub. I love our flag, the USA, and our service men and women who put their lives on the line every day. The flag reminds me of those three things and that my father was a WW-II veteran. And I really enjoyed the pictures!
Great hub! I had my flags a waving! I even wore red, white and blue! America will hopefully restore the freedoms that this country was founded on. I voted this up! I really enjoyed this. And..a quick note. your six pictures on the side that start with "Flags of Each State"..isn't showing up. You may want to check it out. :-)
Inspiring. Voted beautiful.
I never knew of this before, I do admire Americans for their strong sense of patriotism, and I adore your cat. I'm from Australia.
I don't think a lot of people celebrate flag day anymore in the U.S., let alone know about it. I always remembered flag day because it is also my sister's birthday, and as a child we had a flagpole in our front yard that we put the flag on every June 14. I also remember ironing the flag and having to make sure it didn't touch the floor. I'm not sure the younger generations are aware of all of this.
